Inner peace

So many plates spinning in the air right now...My goal for today is to achieve inner peace and stay calm during the chaos.

An early visit to the garden to gaze upon this peony is a good start to the day!

Delight

I am watching this peony bloom with great delight.

It is such a good reminder that it takes time, and teamwork for great things to happen.

Adventure

I went on a hike around the lake today with the walking group.

It was supposed to be an eight mile hike, but we had to take a shortcut back to the parking lot as one of the members of the group was having difficulty.

It was a gorgeous day, and the water was beautiful, and the wildflowers were just beginning to bloom.

Only six miles logged, but what a glorious walk it was!

Beauty

Sometimes, getting to the beauty is messy, or scary, or just downright boring.

The peony and its ant helpers always remind me to slow down and appreciate the process...

Renewal

I've been working on an Easter surprise...

Here he is....the Bluebird of Happiness, newly hatched!

This is from the  Tiny Hatchling pattern from MochiMochiLand. I modified the large egg pattern so that the hatchling could actually fit inside and then "hatch". Knit from handspun created last year for the TourDeFleece project.

Fruition

That right there is a baby artichoke, and I am unreasonably excited about it. The plant made it through the drought, and there is a good chance it will actually bloom this year.

I love artichokes, and I have very fond memories of making them for my sister when she was ill.

Even more than eating them, though, I love to see them actually bloom, like giant thistles.

Contemplation

As I get ready to plant the garden this year, I am amazed to see the volunteer beet and the mint just beginning to establish its territory.

Contemplation means to study, to gaze for a prolonged period. The more I look at this beautiful beet, the more relaxed I feel. This beauty is here because of what I didn't do...

On this day when we remember how easily human beings can betray and crucify each other, I hope it's possible for us to learn to be more compassionate and less quick to judge our fellow beings.

Humility

Sometimes, I am just awestruck by the glorious beauty of nature.

By practicing humility, I can be inspired to create, without needing to compete.

Possibilities

These lime blossoms, at the beginning of Spring, are fragrant with possibilities. I think about making pies, and trying lime curd, perhaps just using them as garnishment for fish tacos.

Soon it will be beastly hot, and the limes and I will struggle to deal with the heat. For now though, I am all about the possibilities...

Strength

I went out into the garden this morning to look for a moment of beauty to share. One of my long time dearest friends had to say goodbye to her beloved dog last night, and asked for strength. She is in every way, strong and capable and brilliant. Losing a family member brings even the best of us to our knees, and letting go of the unconditional love of a dog is an especially heart wrenching loss.

I wish you strength, for whatever you are dealing with today, as always.
