Daughter Bird wanted to see a movie this weekend, and we went yesterday to "the odd life of Timothy Green".
I wept through most of the movie, as the story unfolded and the couple's dreams blossomed.
No spoilers here, my friends, suffice to say that the life lessons presented in the plot are ones the birds and I hold very dear. Honest to a fault, Love and be loved, musical.....(and the recital scene features a high school classmate, so cool!) Soccer moms (another friend connection in those scenes as well)...wow.
The farmhouse is nearly an exact replica of the one in my dreams.
I guess I dream in disney-esque metaphors.
The conversations with dear Daughter bird after the movie were stunning and profound. She has grown into an adult I am proud to know, and I marvel at her wisdom and insight. She related the Japanese folktales which dealt with the same subject matter, and very adeptly summarized the differences in our modern culture which reflect a basic human nature.
I started to knit a sock during the previews, but once the movie started I was so mesmerized not another stitch was knit.
I hope you will have a chance to go and see the movie with someone you love....
Onward!
