My brilliant chiropractor was able to fit me in today.....and it turns out that the PAIN is not actually from my knee. It is referred pain from a Morton's neuroma. I knew as soon as she said it, that the diagnosis was correct. I've been to some HIGHLY respected podiatrists who x-rayed and made me orthotics and thought the pain was coming from my lower back....or pooh-poohed it all together. I kept saying that it felt like the bones in my foot were breaking and the idiot neurologist actually said *really? How do you know? Have you ever broken the bones in your feet before?*
Yes, actually, I have. Way back in College Gymnastics, I broke all of the metatarsals in my left foot, which coincidentally is where the pain is NOW. Good Lord. Think that would explain it?
um, no. Not according to the neurologist...
Clearly it is all in my pretty little head. He prescribed Valium. I never even filled the prescription.
Thanks anyway, dude.
SHE, on the other hand, prescribed something that is actually WORKING. For less than ten bucks, I have these wonderful gel-filled metatarsal supports which allow the bones room to spread out instead of grinding on each other and inflaming the nerves....
how do I spell relief? SMART WOMAN.
A coupe of days of rest and I will be on week three of the couch 2 5K plan again.
With supports in my shoes.
Blessings to you and yours,
as ALWAYS.
