I'll be so glad to stop getting all of the offers in my email to get the

PERFECT thing for Dad....

sigh.

I miss my Daddy SO much!

I've been doing lots of thinking

about SUMMERS past

in recent weeks....

and all the ways the memory of my Father

is embedded therein.

The tomatoes LOVE this heat and humidity

as do the Peppers and the weeds

adorable little shrooms popped up everywhere

and the twin spotties that were born under my deck are wisely keeping in the SHADE...

The AMAZING Boybird...

The EEG that was ordered was of the sleep deprived variety, so he had to have less than four hours sleep the night before. 

He did a FANTASTIC job. They explained what he needed to do,

and he cooperated fully.

The techs were totally unconvinced that he could tolerate the MRI

without sedation,

but he wowed them all and did the whole procedure

AWAKE and alert.

(best way to get pictures of your brain function, of course....)

So now we play the waiting game

for tests to be read and evaluated

and passed up the chain of command.

Tomorrow we are going to Golden Corral for dinner and Target

for the DVD of his choice...

I am SO proud of him!

Thanks for all of the LOVE and support...it was a tremendous help!

At last....

That title is appropriate this week for so many reasons...the Ella Fitzgerald version!

 

What I want to talk about though, is my Boybird.

Tomorrow morning at 930 EST he'll finally be having the EEG,

and at noon, the MRI on his brain.

To say that it has been frustrating to have waited over a YEAR

to have these tests ordered doesn't really begin to describe it...

but, because I am Little Mary Sunshine and always believe that everything

has a positive side...

I'm delighted.

 

Will certainly keep you posted as I find out any results....

Another Fabulous day...

In which the socks were finished

(that's opal sock yarn in the hundertwasser werk series, colorway 150)

Farm visitors included clover munching bunnies

and a fabulous Birthday celebration was possible outside on the patio

of a local Foodie's HEAVEN.

The Meyer lemon tart with brierberries and honeysuckle sorbet was AMAZING.

As the sun set slowly in the West

and the moon came up

I counted my Blessings.

Oh what a wonderful day.....

I went to the spine specialist this morning and got a VERY good report. If I can keep up the progress pace for the next six weeks I can be RELEASED and not be a candidate for surgery!

I got a special cushion to sit on that really helps, and orders to do exactly what is prescribed by my Physical Therapist and not MORE.

"hmmmm", I said, "what makes you think I'd do MORE?"

The very smart doctor rolled his eyes and said, "Right there on your forehead...

it says Type A, extremely competitive, does it not?"

 

Oh, I LIKE this doctor.

 

yes, indeed.

 

After knitting group (in which sock knitting progressed and birthdays were celebrated)

I had a consult with the doctor I've been trying to get the Boybird seen by for YEARS....

and boy, HOWDY....it was like being on HOUSE. He was smart, articulate, understood the

complexity of the symptoms and ranted at everybody about WHY my Boybird had not had all of these various tests that were so *obviously* called for....

He's on MY side!

As we were leaving the meeting, he shook my hand and assured me I was on the right track, and he had seen miraculous changes when angiomas were removed from the brain by the right, well trained surgeons...even though (he whispered conspiratorially) "many of my colleagues pooh-pooh the idea."

Oh yes, I've met many, MANY of those colleagues...sigh.

 

I drove happily to the FARM after that, and squealed over the robustness of the heirloom tomato plants and finished all of the evening chores.

 

"Everything's going my way...."
