I'm a firm believer in this simple truth:
More LOVE is always the answer.
So today I went by the daughter bird's apartment to take her the Spongebob valentine
and the stack of pink notepads that I KNEW she would enjoy....
and she reported that the (full spectrum) lamp in her bedroom
had stopped working.
I asked her if she wanted me to help her with it
and she said *well I GUESS so...*
I removed the light bulb and showed her the blackened place
*burned out?* she said
Yep, I replied. BURNED out.
*Because I used it too much?* she said in a worried voice...
Nope, I said. Just at the end of its useful life.
*AH* said she *THAT's a relief*
So she said she wanted to take it over to the Helpful hardware place and
get a new one...and she really didn't need help for that...
so off I went to go to the Farm.
Ten minutes later, my cellphone rang.
Daughter: *The helpful hardware place is very helpful, but they don't carry that lightbulb.*
Mom: okay...do you know the number of the bulb?
Daughter: *You mean the little numbers over the pluggy in part?*
Mom: yes, those little numbers are how you tell which lightbulb to buy.
Daughter: *cool. Like a secret code?*
Mom: yes, it will tell you the wattage and the part number....
Daughter: *27 watts, part number 5600.*
Mom: Okey-doke. I'll pick one up tis afternoon and...
Daughter: *GREAT! I'm going to the movies now, see you later!*
Mom: Love you, bye!
Daughter: *LOVE YOU, BYE!*
Now, to the casual observer, this is JUST a simple phone conversation.
Please keep in mind that this child was "never" going to develop functional language, never going to ASK A QUESTION, and had such a SEVERE processing delay/disorder that she was certainly NOT going to be able to use the PHONE!
TAKE THAT you know-it-all EXPERTS.
LOVE conquers ALL!
(and replaces light bulbs, too!)
