SNOW day!

I woke up to the most incredible snow...fat, fluffy flakes.....SO Beautiful!

We played in the snow

Watched the Inauguration

and then went out to the Farm to see what it looked like in the snow

Beautiful!

 

Tomorrow's forecast includes HAZARDOUS road conditions, (aka Black Ice)

so I've just cancelled my sweater knitting class in Raleigh.

Stay home and stay safe!

A Day of Service....

I delivered the Daughter bird's medicine to her and then we did our Service Project. We took warm coats and hats and scarves to a PTA thrift shop, and I helped the staff of volunteers sort and put out merchandise. A very small thing to do...but with our WINTER weather event advisory set to go into effect at 9pm tonight, I figured there might be more people than usual looking for cold weather clothing.

I also did my part for the LOVE Project...

A young woman in japan wanted to spread love around the world....such a delightful project!

I saw a bumper sticker today....which I THINK said:

I wasn't able to read an attribution...anybody know whose quote this is?

We shall overcome (sing it with me....) someday!

I'm hoping for tomorrow, myself!

A day of Rest....

Since it was *raining ice* here today, I did not go out to the Farm.

Instead, I counted my Blessings....

from the comfort of my knitting chair! My Grandmother knit me that afghan when I was in 4th grade! The project bag was a gift at SAFF this year, and the socks inside are a kit from Wendy :)

I am enjoying the knitpicks needles so far...will keep you posted! TTFN....

A very good MAIL day!

It was THREE degrees at the Farm this morning....

Work continues, but I had two layers of hand covering on, so picture taking was not gonna happen!

When I got home after lunch for dog walkies, just LOOK what awaited me in my mailbox:

The sock kit I won at WENDY's blog! I picked the Healthy Spine pattern and just LOOK at that fabulous pink sock yarn....YUMMY!

Coincidentally (or NOT!) I also received the knitpicks dpn order for the metal sock needles I've been interested to try....

It is SO cold here, just the PERFECT time to try a new sock pattern!

I also got the MOST hilarious Holiday letter from a dear Knitting friend....I laughed so loud the doggies came running to see WHAT was the matter! (oh, Ann....miss you SO!)

Daughter bird passed the first module on Compliance for her Medical Coding exam...and reports that Hotel Dog and Mall Cop are Very Funny Movies, indeed.

Trying to keep WARM....

I decided to wait until it was above 11 degrees to go to the FARM....

Thank goodness for fleece lined jeans and warm boots!

Ice covered most of the *duck* pond...can you see the duckies? Upper left ;)

LOVE this majestic Sycamore tree....

 

Anyway, much work was accomplished because the ground was frozen SOLID...which meant we could get to places and do things that have been impossible during MUD season!  It is supposed to be EIGHT degrees tonight....brrrrrr!

 Boybird and I went Borders Bookstore

he loves the chocolate chip cookies in the cafe...

and HOORAY! The DVD he has been waiting for was Available!

Brrrrrrrr...it's COLD out!

Tonight is supposed to be in the teens, and tomorrow may not get past ELEVEN degrees.

I won something for delurking....

Something *fabulous* ! A toe-up sock kit from Wendy......swoon!

I cannot wait until her sock book comes out!

(and now I have used my quota of exclamation marks....heh.)

 

The gnome is finished, and will be on his way to my swap partner tomorrow.

As soon as she has reported his arrival, I shall share FO pictures.

 

Until then, I shall leave you with the story of a Very Old Rabbit:

I made this out of felt 20 years ago when the Boybird was having an MRI to try to determine the cause of his seizures. I was trying to distract him so he could be STILL.  

He carried the Rabbit around for YEARS, especially during doctor visits or hospital stays.

That Rabbit has spent a LOT of time in pockets!

When I had my eye surgery, the Boybird gave ME the Rabbit,

and I have him still.

We have LOVED that Rabbit, lots.

I did some sewing and stuffing this afternoon....

Tomorrow he will get his arms and legs and be ready to go to his New Home!

Sure hope my swap partner likes him.....I've become rather fond of him, myself!

A roof, and walls! woot!

The Equipment shed is Enclosed now. After all of the nail holes are sealed, it will be painted barn RED.

 

All of the KNITTING has been finished for the swap...

Alpaca, angora, wool, mohair, silk, nylon....

Now the Making Up begins...

Reading Temple Grandin....

When the daughter bird was first diagnosed, I read the book Temple Grandin's mother wrote about her early years. I felt like I had a window into my daughter's future when Temple began writing her OWN books!

Today I bought the second book about understanding animals....

 

AMAZING!
