A Peaceful Place

I really like where I live.
My little house in the Big Woods is
Just Right.
Here is what was right outside my front door

when I went out for a walk with the pups!
They cuddled up on the couch to watch Uncle Jon
announce from the pits at the IndyCar race in Edmonton
while I did a little knitting.

Took the Daughter bird to the Public Library today
and helped her with a few apartment related things.
She is relishing her independence and doing really well.

The Boybird continues to lose weight and alarm the doctors,
but he was happy and talkative on our Thursday outing.
Continue your prayers for him if you are so inclined.

Friday (the fourth)

So I've been through two pay periods at the new JOB now,
and I really like it.
Today I took my test to be nationally Certified as a Pool Operator.
Next week I take the County test.
I *like* the maths,
unlike all of my coworkers...
who were a little miffed at me for finishing in under an hour.
It feels good to know that the synapses still fire
under test conditions ;)
I'm relaxing now with the pups,
catching up on laundry, and knitting on the
Mindless Triangle.

CrazyBusy...

In a GOOD way.
I really like the New Job.
I'm certainly not going to be bored,
which is EXCELLENT.
I got away for the weekend to fish for Brook Trout

and came back rested and relaxed,
with some knitting progress accomplished.

Still no new news about the Boybird,
but Daughter bird is doing a great job with the her
filing projects and loving all the new Summer Movies.
Life is really sweet.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't choose to be inside during the Summer,
but I am SO grateful to work in an Air Conditioned space
during this heat and humidity wave....
whew!

Most Excellent news.

The Boybird spent the weekend at the BEACH!
I went by his house today and dropped off a tape
that i had promised him...they hadn't returned from their
adventure yet, so they must be having a good time!

Also, I am fully trained to use my new phone at work,
should it actually be delivered and hooked up.
My favorite part of the HOUR long session?
The *this light blinks but the button doesn't really do anything* section.
I tried to keep a straight face and look like I was taking really good notes.
Common sense is in VERY short supply apparently,
Endangered, even.

Today I helped the Daughter bird
clean her apartment, took her to the Public Library,
and picked up her new exercise bike.

Her reaction....
"This has been an EXCELLENT day, Mom!"

Latest Update on the Boybird....

We had a great time yesterday at Border's...
he was thrilled with the DVD he picked out and also the LARGE
warm chocolate chip cookie ;)
Today he went back to the GI docs and they were *Very Concerned*
about his continued weight loss.
UM, yeah....(bangs head slowly on desk)
we've all been Very Concerned about this for MONTHS.
He is really really thin and ALWAYS hungry
especially for carbohydrates and salty things.
More tests are scheduled.
sigh.
Prayers are MUCH appreciated.

Busy, busy...

Just the way I like it....
getting things done.
Checking them off the list.
Working with people who are willing
to work until the job is DONE.
I REALLY like my job.

Meltdown

I came home from working the 4th of July and took my sweet doggies
for a walk.....I need to get some of the frustration about my Boybird out of my system
and knew that we were going to have rain later in the evening.
Somehow, in a move I still don't completely understand,
Molly ran across the cul-de-sac and got her leash
looped under the holster for my cell phone.
I heard a *snap* and saw the Centro fly through the air and land
Face Down in the only puddle anywhere in the neighborhood.
Despite my quick retrieval,
the phone was DEAD.
I spent THREE hours with Sprint this morning
trying to get them to port my number into my old Treo,
which I kept charged specifically for this backup service.
I pay for the REPLACEMENT insurance every month,
and sometime NEXT week they will mail me a replacement phone.
I am very dependent on my cellphone, feeling like it is a lifeline
to the Birds if they have an issue or an emergency.
Shortly after the successfull sync of the old (now new) phone,
The folks from Boybird's house called and said he'd been back to the doctor AGAIN
with further complications.
This means he CAN'T go back on his meds until these issues are cleared up
with a whole different set of meds.
sigh.
Poor kid.
They said he slept four hours yesterday afternoon
and was just NOT himself.
I got on the phone with him and let him know
how much I love him.
Thank you SO much to all of you who took the time to email me
with supportive messages.
It means the WORLD.

Sad afternoon....

I went into work extra early this morning
so I could leave in time to take the Boybird
to the Mall.
I got all of my work done,
ran out of the building,
up the stairs to the parking deck
and began to head toward home.
I called the Boybird's hoouse to let them know my
approximate time of arrival,
and they said they were just about to head out to the
doctor
as the Boybird had some GI symptoms
(I'll spare you the details)
of concern
and they did not want to end up in the ER
on a Holiday weekend.
I fretted for two hours until I heard from them.
His prescription for the medication that had been helping so much
was only for thirty days
(EVEN THOUGH THE GI DOC SAID HE SHOULD BE ON IT AS LONG AS NEED BE....)
and of course, since it was now after 5pm
and July 4th is tomorrow....
no new scrp will be written until Monday at the earliest.
I'm just TOTALLY frustrated.
I'm not sure WHO is dropping the ball here,
and I need to calm down
before heads begin to roll,
but the upshot of this whole thing is that he will not feel well
on one of his favorite holidays of the year.
The fireworks...he LOVES the fireworks.
I have to work tomorrow,
unpacking all of the goodies we have received
to open our *SHOP*.
That will be a good distraction.
I have already emailed the GI doc and the manager
who advocates for the Boybird....
I think I'll go knit for awhile
and try to unsadden myself.
