Week ONE

In which I take a new job
and discover all kinds of things
I think are most excellent and FUN!
I am all about making the BEST
of any given situation,
it is just my WAY.
My neighbor stopped me in the street
this evening to congratulate me on my new
ADVENTURE,
and said,
*oh that's just the PERFECT job for you,
you must be having So Much FUN!*
I guess it shows ;)
Not much time for knitting this week,
what with getting adjusted to the new
schedule,
but SOON I hope to have pictures of the
latest Project Spectrum Seasonal Shawl.
Molly ripped out the Orkney Pi shawl yet AGAIN,
so I finally just gave UP and started
something new.
She has excellent taste in fiber,
and just absolutely insisted that the merino/tencel
that came from HER farm
wanted to be something ELSE.
Something NOT round.
She hasn't touched it once since I started
the triangular incarnation.
Hmmmmmmmmm.
Silly, sweet doggie!
(she's SO happy to have the cone of silence off!)

My first day....

The new job is going to be wonderful!
Very Interesting, smart people, working together as a team
to reach a common goal.
I am treated with courtesy and respect.
Plus, I am going to learn something new
every single day,
always a plus.
Certainly not going to be BORED....
My legs are aching from running all over
on concrete floors all day...
Tomorrow, gel inserts for the
Sturdy Work Shoes.
Jeans, long sleeve work shirt, and a Hard Hat....
My very own hard hat.
The reflective vest completes the ensemble for this week.
No heels and hose for this Engineer!
Daughter bird did really well handling the Power Outtage
at her apartment complex last night...
I am so proud of her!

All Clear....

The Boy bird did an amazing job with his colonoscopy today.
Everything looks clear and normal, which I am SO grateful for.
Still a mystery why he is getting so THIN...
his C-reactive protein test was also negative,
so the search for answers continues.
I am going to take my knitting and retreat
for the weekend,
need some REST before the new job starts
at oh dark thirty
on Monday morning.

Daughter bird

I took her to the Supported employment meeting at TEACCH yesterday.
They want to do 25-30 hours of evaluation to asses her office skills.
She handed over her resume and said
"when do I start?"
We set up an appointment for Friday afternoon
and she jotted it down in her planner.
"How much will I get PAID?"
she asked...
After explaining that this was sort of like practice, so they could
see what her strengths and skills are,
she said "I need to start getting PAID. I am tired of asking my Mother
for money!"
*snort*
You go, girl.
She then proceeded to tell them if she wasn't going to get paid, she
needed to be through by 4 pm
so she could go to the matinee
at the movies.
She knows what she likes!

Nervous

Tomorrow morning, 10AM, I have a meeting with the new BOSS.
Haircut, check.
Suit and shoes ready to go.
Money for parking,
cellphone charged.
Feels like the night before the First Day of School!
To distract myself,
I'm dreaming about knitting THESE
I already have the yarn in the stash
and the right size 40" addi lace needle....
If all goes well,
I'll be able to tell you all
about my new Job, tomorrow!

Not resting. Not comfortable.

Molly had her surgeries today.
A little more involved and a lot more expensive than originally
planned...but she came through like a trouper.
She is supposed to REST for two weeks.
ROFL...oh excuse me, I mean,
yeah, no problem.
She has one of those Elizabethan collars on
and a modified diaper
so she is a VERY unhappy camper.
No running, no jumping,
Syringes of pain meds and a bottle of antibiotics
round out the fun and excitement for the next two weeks.
Did I mention that it was 100 degrees F today
and supposed to be hotter tomorrow?
A good excuse to stay inside with the (not so)patient
and knit...

she's a yarnivore...

Miss Molly jumped up on the coffee table,
snatched the Orkney Pi and RAN
as fast a her little legs would carry her.
sigh.
Thank God she didn't swallow the gorgeous glass stitch marker
I was using to mark the beginning of the round....
or splinter the Knitpicks Harmony circular needle,
but the knitting is up on a Higher Surface for the moment,
waiting until I calm down, get some STRONG magnification
and attempt to find all of the dropped stitches.
I was just to the end of the third section.
Horseshoe lace, I think it is called.
Not an auspicious start to the day.
It is supposed to be high 90's today, wicked humidity.
Boybird and I are going to the Mall.
His *more invasive* tests are scheduled to begin June 20th.
I'll keep you posted.
