The Knit a Sweater in November project is FINISHED!
I am absolutely thrilled to present CeCe:

Just one natural shell button, three quarter sleeves
and enough of a lace pattern repeat to be interesting...
kudos to Bonne Marie
for another fabulous chicknits pattern!

Almost finished with November sweater!

I really like the CeCe sweater!

all I have left is the back neckband!

It WILL be done by Friday!

Back to the routine...

The birds are both back in their nests
and all of the laundry is done and
leftovers packed up...
What an AMAZING Thanksgiving we had!
Daughter bird did an outstanding job
hosting her first Thanksgiving in her new
apartment...
she insisted on a lace tablecloth and fresh flowers...

and my favorite moment of the meal?

SO Thankful!

The Daughter bird is back from college
and SHE wants to host Thanksgiving at her new apartment!
I'll be running like crazy,
moving furniture and getting her kitchen set up,
but I am SO proud of her....
and SO Thankful.
wow.

The Old Fashioned Way....

I had to plug my computer in to the modem
to make it work....
can you imagine?
I feel like such a luddite.
heh.
I have pictures in my camera,
but until I can get the devices to speak to
each other nicely,
I can't share them.
It is AMAZING how much I got done in the
hours I haven't been surfing the net
or on Ravelry....
which is a good thing, I guess,
since Daughter bird needs to be picked up tomorrow
and the Boybird on Wednesday...
I've SO much to be Thankful for !

Today is the anniversary of my Daddy's death.
It has been a very rainy, blustery day out there...
in here, too.

Thank goodness for the busyness of the Daughter bird's
Yearly meeting
(lots of goals MET and checked of the list!)
and the trip to Golden Corral
and Target with the Boybird,
who cheered me immensely by letting
EVERYBODY within a 25 yard radius know that....
"Brrrrrr...I'm about to freeze my giblets!"
(bonus points if you know what Big Bird movie
he's quoting and WHY!)

Back to the Sleeve channel for me ;)

Getting started.....and finishing!

I spent an incredibly frustrating morning trying to establish
the basics for the Daughter Bird's apartment.
Getting the electric service started required three hours,
two car trips, a stop at the bank for a cashier's check,
$22.50 to express mail it to the P.O. box the utility
company uses as an address,
and all kinds of identity information that I was rather
uncomfortable providing.
She would have had a TOTAL meltdown trying to do this
herself.
sigh.
The gas company was only slightly less trouble
because I have been an existing (and good)
customer for nearly 15 years.
I didn't even TRY to do the phone or the cable.
That can wait until she graduates, or I calm down,
whichever comes first.
I attempted to SOOTHE myself with mindless
Garter Stitch and managed to finish the endless sleeve
of the Adult Tomten....

ta-DAH! Only one more to go and then the miles of i-cord.
Perhaps by the time this is finished the next Ice Age will
have arrived and I will be (for once)
Appropriately Attired.

kindred spirits

Just when I think the world is a dark and scary place,
the Internets remind me
that there are LOTS
of kindred spirits out there,
making a LIFE
making ART.
I received the most delightful
package today from KJ and the dreamy giraffe and I've been smiling
ever since!

Last Long Weekend in the Mountains...

Went trout fishing this weekend in the mountains...
Caught (and released) some big brook and rainbow trout
on a 3 weight flyrod.
So incredibly peaceful and beautiful up there....
but now the Holiday rush begins.
All the work to set up the Daughter bird's new nest,
and then both the Birds home for Thanksgiving....
and then onward towards Christmas.
I'm making a pledge to stay true to the
real meaning of the holidays...
I have LOTS to be Thankful for
and so many abundant blessings
in my life. I plan to take the Handmade pledge
as well.....won't you join me?

with plenty of time to knit and spin,
