Fantastic mail day!

I got all kinds of amazing mail today,
lots of pictures to take and share in the next few days....
but let me begin with something I've been coveting in
blogland for a WHILE now:

Boybird update:
He had to have surgery
(fairly minor, thank goodness!)
on the cyst
that recurs every once in awhile
on the side of his face.
It is an outgrowth of the tumor/cyst
on his brain,
so it is always scary when it flares up.
No seizures this time,
so I am doubly thankful!

ONWARD!

Saturday skating synopsis (sidelined)

I'm getting REALLY frustrated.
I now can't put any weight on my right foot
because I popped a blood vessel
right in the middle of the arch
of my foot (underneath).
It feels like I have the sharpest rock
EVER sticking in the most sensitive part of
my foot.
Sheeesh.
From riding the EXERCISE bike,
of all things.
Another week (at least)
on the sidelines.
bleh.

One of THOSE days....

I spent the morning in a podiatrists office
with an incredibly painful lump on my foot
after riding the exercise bike yesterday
for 50 minutes.
Turns out I popped a blood vessel,
and if the swelling doesn't go down in a week
I'll have to have surgery.
sigh.
Went to visit the Boybird this afternoon
and he looked AWFUL.
Very pale, wobbly and said he had a
HEADACHE.
We went back to his nest after a quick trip
to Border's.
He's going to the doctor
tomorrow.
When Mercury goes retrograde
it really does a number on us
*sensitive* folks.
sigh.
I'm going to KNIT
with my foot up.

I'm smitten with etsy,
and the marvellous conversations I've had with
other Makers of Things!
One of those conversations
(about autism)
led me to a fabulous artist
whose work had been
forwarded to me by not one,
not two,
but THREE people who know me well
and said *OH, you must see this!*
I clicked and marvelled,
and now, today,
just LOOK what arrived in the mail:

Up early...

Getting ready to take the Daughter bird to work
and print out the State Fair tickets for Boybird
I ran across this:

Partly Cloudy

I used to know the names of the clouds
and whether or not
it was going to RAIN....
I've forgotten.

We're in an *exceptional* drought period, here.
No washing of cars or landscape plants
allowed.

Daughter bird wonders whether one day
we will turn on the tap to brush our teeth
and perhaps nothing will come out.

Will we have to carry water from the well
in buckets, like in the stories she is so fond of?

We take it so for granted
that there will always be enough.

The truth, is partly cloudy.
