Here are two comissioned pieces I am working on:
yes, this one is (gasp) crochet
and THIS one is feather and fan...
They are both for an extremely fussy and BOSSY client
who is redoing her bedroom after scoring an awesome
Vintage Chair on ebay...
Ginger and her latest rescue,
a very mischevious Monkey named Maxwell.
The room, she informs me, MUST be monkey-safe.
sigh.
Never a dull moment around here!

It is that time of year again...
for pumpkin patches
and Fall Flowers...
Unfortunately, it is also THAT time of year again.
sigh.
The Boybird's yearly ISP meeting.
I am so disappointed I can barely think about it.
He has lost his funding for community support
because his case manager did not pay attention to the details
and worded his plan incorrectly.
The good news is, I knew about it ahead of time, because I am
NOSY and PARANOID and PROACTIVE.
(this from the person who I regularly do battle with over matters
such as paperwork being filed correctly and ON TIME.)
So I had a Plan B already in my pocket,
and an advocate for my son present at the meeting to hear
what I am proposing.
In the long run, it may be a blessing.
I'd be glad to get rid of a couple of layers of incompetents
in favor of an actual Person Centered Plan
(as is SUPPOSED to be always the case)
brokered by ME and catering to the best interests of the
PERSON in question.
In the meantime though, it is all under APPEAL
and I can't say much more about it.
So we signed off on the paperwork and went for a SNACK:
Never fear, Boybird,
your fierce and STUBBORN Mama bird
will not give up easily!

Thanks to Nathania,
I've begun the daunting task of cataloging my BOOKS,
here
Want to be my *friend*?
So far I've listed a few of the many books I would recommend
to someone wanting to know more about the Autism Spectrum.
Feel free to browse and tell me what you think!
good reads, indeed!
BRILLIANT.

Totally inspired by THIS, but not wanting to make the trip to another STATE
to visit IKEA...
(also, how I *heart* IKEA? I'd be spending WAY too much money!)
I took a trip to TARGET instead and for
less than $100:
a large amount of patience,
good reading glasses for the detailed directions,
a little bit of elbow grease,
some embellishment,
TA-DAH!
It's a start....

Oh, the air is getting a teensy bit crisper,
and thoughts of Ravelry dance through my head.
When,oh WHEN, will I get my invite?
You signed up on August 21, 2007
You are #27610 on the list.
10403 people are ahead of you in line.
7908 people are behind you in line.
48% of the list has been invited so far.
sigh.
In the meantime,
THIS landed in my inbox today.
heh.

This week was all about Long Term Goals.
Monday was a Travel day.
I logged a good long workout on Tuesday after teaching,
then on Wednesday I met with the Strength and Conditioning Coach,
who upped almost every single one of my weight training exercises
and was THRILLED with my progress on Spin Technique
and check out drills.
(off ice, of course)
to demonstrate,
here's my Mascot...Blythe Superior Skate Date!
(Fortunately, my boots fit a lot better than hers do ;)
Thursday was the Oral Surgery,
Friday and Today dedicated to HEALING.
I'm practicing VISUALIZATION techniques,
Imagining myself gliding across the ice.
SOON.

Oh, I am BORED.
It is one thing to have a delicious day off to snuggle on the couch with the puppies and KNIT,
but when it is because I HAVE to stay on the couch and take Naprosyn for the pain and am
restricted to liquids, and gargling with salt water....
sigh.
I picked up stitches for the Tomten sleeve, knit a couple of inches and stopped.
Looked in my Knitting bag for the trusty SOCK project.
(when all else fails, Knitting Socks is my V*lium equivalent.)
AHA!
(an excuse to go OUTSIDE and admire the new walkway...heh.)
These are toe-up, short row heel, SOOTHING
to knit! THe Austerman Step Yarn is infused with Aloe and Jojoba oil....
very yummy.
I am loving the Fall Colors....
but have you noticed what is totally freaking me out?
THEY.DO.NOT.match.
eeep.
Gifts, they shall be!
The puppies are Very Happy about all of the Staying Home:
They were both in this bed until the camera came out....
Mr. Carson does not like to share the spotlight!
Happy Weekend, ALL!

The procedure went well...
(they said I was VERY brave!)
and thanks to my BooBoo Buddy
and regular rinsing with prescriptions saltwater.....
I actually think I'll avoid any bruising or too much swelling.
sigh.
I hung out on the couch and KNIT,
so now I have a finished (and Kitchenered)
Tomten HOOD:
whew!
That's a LOT of knitting!
I just talked to the Boybird on the phone...he is having a GREAT time
at the beach!
It's all a huge relief.
Back to the COUCH for me.

So...let's see.
THe Boybird's yearly meeting was scheduled for this afternoon,
but it was cancelled at the last minute.
I have oral surgery tomorrow
and the Boybird is going to the BEACH
(thank GOD for uncoincidental timing...heh.)
so we went on our outing TODAY.
For those of you unfamiliar with the rigidity
that is the Autism Spectrum,
you are prolly thinking,
yeah, so???
HOWEVER, this was a major milestone in
Flexibility and lastminutechange....
woo.HOO!
We ate at Golden Corral
and then headed over to Target to look for the object of his obsession
THIS WEEK,
Fraggle Rock, Season Three, the DVD.
No such luck at Target.
Instead of pitching a big old hissy fit,
he said
"Go to WALMART!"
and happily transitioned to Plan B.
Amazing.
Walmart indeed had the Fraggle Rock
DVD set AND chipsonsale.
The whole way back to his nest he
chattered on about "Tomorrow, go to the BEACH!"
and jumped out of the Mommymobile with a huge grin on
his face.
wow.
I know we'll have lots of positive things to discuss
at NEXT week's meeting!
