The Boybird had a fabulous time at Borders,
mostly because the new Sesame Street DVD
was in...
Then we went to the grocery store
where he got Fried Chicken,
freshly baked sourdough bread,
two bags of Chips (Lays Wavy are the current
Fave Flavor)
and straight to the self checkout
lane.
He cheered me up so much,
as he is doing Amazingly well
at work and at his Nest.
I ALMOST forgot about the searing pain
in my hand brought on by trying to use
the Safety Can opener while preparing
lunch at work.
Oh.My.God.
The Doctor had asked me if any particular motions
were more painful than others, and Boy Howdy
this was IT.
Ow.Ow.Ow.
Anybody know of an ergonomic
easy to use
Can Opener?
Seriously, you'll be RICH
if you Invent One!
Tomorrow is the lantern Walk for martinmas...
"Martinmas Celebration and Lantern Walk
The celebration of Martinmas is inspired by a French legend, which tells the
tale of Martin, a soldier in the middle of the 4th century. Upon entering the
city of Amiens, he discovered a beggar almost naked and frozen with cold.
While the other soldiers scoffed at the beggar, Martin’s heart ached with
empathy for the beggar’s suffering. Martin cut his own cape in two and
gave half to the beggar. That night, Martin dreamed that the angels took
him to the Lord, who was wearing the same piece of cape, which Martin had
shared that day. Martin soon became known as the patron saint of the poor.
A lantern lighting the way for a brisk November walk through the woods
has become a symbol for the celebration of Martinmas. Songs are sung and
the rosy glow of human light and warmth contrasts with the bleak and cold
of nature. The lanterns are often decorated with stars, sun, and moon. As
the children walk through the cold, dark night, their lantern symbolizes
their own individual light: so many inner lights soon brighten the outside
with warmth. Sharing a treat together after the walk is often included."
