Friday the 13th

As I sit here
typing with one hand...
trying to ignore the shooting
Nerve Pain,
I'm thinking this
might be an
EXCELLENT day
to just stay home.

I'd rather be

signing up for THIS
instead of this WAITING to feel better
nonsense.
I've been directed to rest and recuperate
and take more of the steroids for LONGER
and see if THAT helps.
sigh.
At least I get to see the Boybird this afternoon!

the fog is lifting....

I woke up this morning feeling ALMOST human.
My arm still aches like crazy,
with random shooting nerve pain,
but I no longer feel like I am
wandering in a fog.
I'll go check in at work and then go back
to Employee health for a recheck
and hopefully some results
from the lab tests.
I'm dreaming about KNITTING,
which is a good sign.
Today was supposed to be Carson's
vet school appointment,
but that has been pushed back....
Perhaps I should have taken MYSELF
to the vet school
where they might have known a little bit more
about WHAT might have bitten me.
It is SO not encouraging when the
Director of Emloyee health services
is looking up *bites* on the
Internets.
sigh.

So sleeeepy...

I actually fell asleep TWICE in Employee Health...
could barely keep my eyes open to answer the questions,
didn't even FLINCH during the blood draw
or the lancing of the *bite site*
to test for neurotoxins...
Honestly,
if this is how Spiderman
got his start...
sigh.
So now I have a whole new purse load
of meds in Bigger Bottles
including major steroids,
stronger antibiotics
and more antihistimeanies....
did I mention that this was the Daughter bird's
Fall break and that these were the two days off
to enjoy with her?
not.so.much.
She's been a troouper
as per usual though
which is the one
bright spot in all of this.
ow.ow.OW.
At the very least I want to be able to walk up walls
and hang from the ceiling
after all of this.....

sort of a holiday...

I'm not at work,
but will spend most
of the day at Employee Health
after getting bit by something
in the Greenhouse last week.
sigh.
I was a good little worker bee
and filled out all of the paperwork
and stayed on the job
until they could find coverage for me
at the end of the next day
to go to Employee Health.
By that time it was Friday afternoon at 3pm
and everyone who could have done a consult
had gone home for the weekend.
I had already put in the paperwork to have today OFF
so I could spend it with Daughter bird....
I feel very guilty that I am not
fully present for her.
I've been taking a purse load of meds,
but still don't feel much better...
so I'll just toddle on back to the
Hospital and WAIT until somebody
can see me.
The weather has been cold and rainy and
Downright DREARY
so I don't feel like I'm
missing much...
Daughter bird has been quite content to sleep in
and laze around reading books...
sigh.

Friday

After work today I'll be driving
to the Daughter bird's college
to bring her home
for fall break...
Both of the birds are doing SO well
I can hardly STAND it!
Hope your weekend is blessed with

Amazing...

The Boybird's annual meeting was absolutely AMAZING!
He has met or exceeded ALL of his goals
and has worked exceptionally hard
in all areas of the plan.
I could not be more pleased or proud,
and as an added bonus,
the meeting TRULY was
ALL ABOUT HIM.
Everybody talked about how hard HE
has worked and what a joy he is to work with...
I am so BLESSED to have found this
wonderful community
that accepts him
Just As He IS.
He looked wonderful
and checked off each agenda item as we
talked about it....
took sips of his water at appropriate intervals,
and happily transitioned back to his
nest when we were finished!
We're off to the MALL today
to have dinner at SONIC
(his choice!)
and do a little shopping.
Honestly,
I'm still a little stunned from all of the
good news...I kept waiting for the
*and now we need to discuss.....*
but, TRULY...
Life is Sweet.

The Years fly by....

Today is a longtime friend's birthday (10.4 good buddy!)
and the Boybird's annual *progress* meeting.....
which is right after work.
I'm anticipating LOTS of good news and
plans for the coming year...
but secretly hoping I can finish the jaywalker sock
while everybody else talks.
Daughter bird has her Fall break beginning this weekend,
and the leaves along the shoreline of the LAKE
are just beginning to show a hint of color....
sigh.
