Scritchy

I was up at 4AM doing laundry and vacuuming.
I am covered in scritchy bites and the welts are beginning.
My poor poodles are miserable.
Even though they are on regular
(monthly advantix) treatments to protect them
from such an invasion...
We're being attacked
by FLEAS.
bleh.
I'm tempted to try the Fleabusters products...
any positive experiences out there?
We're GRRRRRRRRouchy.
Oh, and did I mention it is RAINING?

Learning to SIGN...

I just started a new beginning sign language class last night...
it is WONDERFUL!
I used to sign all the time when the kids were little
(and initially the Boybird was thought to BE deaf...)
and it was like our own little secret CODE.
It is a beautiful language,
very poetic
and physical.
sigh.

Our assignment for the end of the seven week course is to SIGN
a SONG in front of the class....
I'm tempted to do
C is for COOKIE
from Sesame Street!

The Boybird's Birthday!

He's twice his favorite number now....
and we had a fabulous time celebrating the DAY!
We went for a long walk

to the swinging bridge at the Autism Camp
where we made wishes
and sent them up to heaven
with the balloons

sigh.
The Perfect Day, really....
gorgeous weather,
good food, great friends, excellent cake

and presents....

He got to do Art Projects and play in the gym and generally
have the run of one of his favorite places...

what's not to LOVE?

Ready to Hibernate....

The days are getting shorter
and it is getting darker...
so I'm knitting
and reading again.
There's a different darkness
settling in
that I need to give
some serious
consideration to....
back in a few days,
hopefully with
pictures of FINISHED knitted
items.

Friday funnies...

Yesterday was my day with the Boybird...
he was all smiles
as we headed out to run errands.
*Storm, shopping!*
he says...
So I turned into the
new Kroger parking lot
and he happily chirps
*Lay's Chips on SALE!*
(The Boybird has an encyclopedic visual memory
and scans the weekly coupons in the newspaper.)
He gets his chips, some freshly baked bread,
and a LARGE box of Little Debbie
Oatmeal Creme Cookies.
We head for the self checkout and he scans
his items, puts them in the bag
and steps back for me to
PAY.
Jumping over the large puddles in the
Parking Lot, he directs me to
return him to his Nest.
*Okay, NOW Storm!*
teehee.
After I dropped him off I stopped for Bottled
Water, Dog Food and the Good Chocolate.
We all have our priorities!
