Mud INSIDE my shoes.

I now know that the
*storm* is not due to arrive
until LATE tonight...
so all that torrential rainfall
and wicked lightning
and trees bent over horizontally
against a BLACK sky yesterday?
NOT a storm?
WTF...Wednesday.
sigh.
Apparently Pluto is not amused
about being downgraded.

Howdy Neighbor!

I was out walking my dogs in the early twilight last night and saw my sweet
neighbor struggling with some branches in her driveway.
She has been rapidly declining since her husband died,
and she could not remember if any of the neighbors had a key,
but she had locked herself out
*sometime in the afternoon*
and waved me off,
assuring me that she was fine.
I quickly called all of the at home neighbors
and we convinced her to go to Joan's house to see her new
birdfeeders.
My other neighbor said she had seen her out after church and that she looked awfully
hot and tired, then.
After a dozen phone calls I finally got the Longtime Friend
who has a key to the house...
(her number is now on my LIST!)
who came right over to get her and thanked me about a
hundred times for being so compassionate.

Honestly, I wasn't going to just
LEAVE her out there....

sigh.

Do something neighborly if you have the chance....
we all need all the help we can get!

Memories

I will be spending most of the weekend with dear friends
who are preparing for their Mother's funeral.
My heart is so heavy,
but I am going to do whatever
I possibly can
to wrap them in LOVE
and help (hopefully)
in some small way.

I have many wonderful memories
of this amazing woman
even though I didn't know
her all that long.

She always made me feel welcome
in her charming home
and had a wickedly quick wit.

The Falling Leaves socks from Knitty
are a pleasure to knit...
and especially with MaryAnn's
fabulous handdyed sock yarn!
As I was taking this picture the battery icon was blinking
and I knew I only had one shot at it...
so sorry for the scrunchy bits.

Off to see the Boybird after work today...
I'm sure there is SOMETHING exciting on his calendar,
but I can't for the life of me
remember what it is....

Prayer Life

I've got a long list of Prayers to say
and the sky just opened up and POURED
out a Blessed Rain....
so perhaps tomorrow
I'll have some pictures
of the knitting accomplished
while keeping YOU and your loved ones
close to my heart.

The Queen is in her counting house

Homeowners Association meeting

and got a good start on the
lacy part of the leg.

I'm a 49er!

Yesterday was my 49th birthday,
so for a whole year
(or maybe more)
I'll be able to TRULY claim my
California Bay Area*ness.
I had a lovely weekend,
with good friends and
GREAT music and
swimming in the LAKE
at sunset.
Life is SWEET.

Oh, and yeah, there was KNITTING.

I finally turned the heel on the socks
and all is now Right with my World.

Seeing SPOTS!

We had a wonderful time at the Golden Corral
(it was hilarious when we walked in and all the
wait staff high fived my Boybird. The grill chef turned up the GAS
and the woman behind us in line said,
"WOW, He's popular!" tee.hee.)
Then a cruise through Target,
where he finally got his long awaited Elmo
DVD about pets!

I dropped him off,
did meds and cleaned out Carson's *owchie*
and then we went for a little walk.
He's doing better, but the foot
is still pretty tender.

Then I came home and crashed with the new Tom Petty
album on my ipod and THIS:

meh.
It only took me fifteen minutes to page through
and know the ONLY thing I'd even consider
knitting isn't a possibility

unless the Boybird starts sporting a bowtie!

I think I'll jump back on the sock knitting wagon.
