Baby Blessings

I finished the Baby Mermaid dress!

The super secret shower is on Wednesday afternoon
at our potluck staff meeting,
so I was really happy to find the perfect gift bag
when I was at CVS getting something for my
Poison Ivy....
sigh.
Trying.Not.To.Scratch.
When I got back, there was an announcement in my
snail mail box that one of the Boybird's elementary school
teachers had TWIN boys on May 11, and the pictures
were ever so cute, with big sister holding the guys...
awwwww.
Any KNITTERS out there know of a baby boy knit
that I won't be bored with since I gotta make TWO?
(Plus a matchy something for a toddler sis....)

Speaking of not being bored (or itchy)
I guess you want the specs for the mermaid dress, right?
Pattern is Knitty katja
modified with a feather and fan pattern instead of the purl rows...
Turquoise Cotton ease
knit with size 5US Bamboo circular
and matching dpn's.

If I made this again
I think I'd make the *skirt*
in the round and attach the top
afterwards....
but it is a lovely pattern and
was a JOY to knit.

Honestly, it's a Miracle!

So, there are people who are afraid of needles, and people who are TERRIFIED
of needles...and then there is the BOYBIRD who is exponentially freaked out by needles....
Unfortunately, one of his meds to control seizures and such-like
requires regular blood level tests, which means the Dreaded Blood Draw.
Today I heard from the Blessed Saint (seriously, his reward is gonna be SWEET!)
who travels with the Boybird to the Doctor where the whole staff
has in the past been involved in the DRAMA that is the Blood Draw.
While they have been kind and helpful and patient,
NOBODY looks forward to this appointment.
This time?
He watched the whole procedure calmly,
LET them draw the blood
and left quietly.

I actually slept six hours in ONE night...
AMAZING!

Poodle prayers, please!

Carson is back on another round of prednisone.
I spent the night holding him
because he just screamed in pain
until the first dose kicked in.
The source of the pain is a total mystery,
as it has been for every one of these episodes.
The best guess is that he had a terribly traumatic
blow or fall at some point and relives it each time
his back or neck or leg send the impulses through the nerve endings...
I'll probably order some more of the magic pain killer
if he doesn't taper easily from the pred...
Meanwhile,
my queendom for some SLEEP!
Six hours is not enough for a WEEK!

Dear Friends...

We've been friends for more than 20 years,
and we had SUCH a great time this weekend!
I'll be VERY sad when the plane
leaves for Long island tomorrow....
sigh.

Well, let's all hope that THIS
becomes the new way to drive!
If I win the lottery, I want one of the
first hundred signature models,
but hopefully it will be in production
and relatively affordable

Work Uniform

I love that I can wear THIS to work:

and be totally in uniform!
I have to wear closed toed shoes
(thank goodness for CROCS!)
and have plenty of POCKETS
(I always need a pen for client data, a watch, my leatherman tool, gloves both
garden & sterile...pruners, twine....)
geeky girl clothing for sure!

Today is going to be BUSY BUSY BUSY...
work from 6:30-3:30, walk the doggies, pick up Daughter bird, go get the Boybird,
Golden Corral and Target, take the Boybird back to his house,
then straight to the airport to pick up our COMPANY
who will be with us until TUesday...
I'm SO excited!
More about this tomorrow, gotta get MOVING!
