Unwound

Yep, it was a lovely LONG weekend,
and I had a chance to COMPLETELY UNWIND

so I can start all over again.....
The Klaralund cardigan was just Too Boxy for me
but I loved this Noro colorway
so I think this will be a Retro Prep Cardi.

Saw the most amazing thing yesterday...
a brand new baby deer.
JUST outside my bedroom window!
All wobbly and hardly bigger than Carson.
I TRIED to take a picture, but the flash
bounced back against the window
and made the Mama deer all skittish.
If they are around in the next few days I'll
try and get a photo,
but I don't want to scare them.

Memorial Day weekend has always meant one thing to me...
listening to (and later watching) the Indy 500 with my Daddy.
He was a veteran, and insisted on the proper respect for ceremonies
honoring his fellow service members....but when the green flag dropped,
it was all about the racing!
Yesterday's race was wonderful. He would have loved it.
For the first time since his passing, I didn't weep, just missed him
and tried to honor HIS memory.

I spent most of the race unraveling this

(the cardigan adaptation of Klaralund)
so that I coould reuse this fabulous colorway
in something else.

I thought I'd have lots of muted commercial time to
UNWIND...but some very clever geek came up with the side by side
concept, and I hardly got ANYTHING done.

We're going to a Memorial Day service this morning and then perhaps
a picnic, depending on the Daughter bird's tolerance for crowds.
The Boybird will be at a cookout with HIS buddies, so we'll see him
on Thusday, as usual.

Friday foolishness

On the way to see the Boybird yesterday afternoon, I inexplicably took the Freeway
(yes, I KNOW...this advertises for all the world that I am a Left Coaster...)
instead of the pretty road,
and the Daughter bird instantly perked up and said
*Are we going somewhere DIFFERENT? This isn't the way we USUALLY go....*
sigh.
No, it ISN'T the way we usually go.
We don't cut people off or drive 85 (or WORSE, 45)mph
or play chicken with tractor trailers.
By the time I had gone five miles, I was so tense
I had a stiff neck.
I gratefully got off at the first possible exit that would get us back to
the USUAL way.
*Well* said the daughter bird
*THAT was pretty foolish! What was THAT about?*
I replied that I had no earthly idea,
just felt like taking a different way home.
She tipped her head as if listening to an invisible radio station.
*Oh, because of the traffic jam that my brother is in?*
WHAT?
I tried not to panic,
but as soon as I got to the Boybird's house, I noticed that the van wasn't there.
Somebody came out and apologized and said they'd be quite LATE.
They'd gotten Stuck in an awful traffic jam on the USUAL way.
When they DID arrive, the Boybird hopped out of the van, put his lunchbox away
and sprinted over to the Mommymobile.
*BRUEGGER'S!* they both shouted.
We had a lovely snack and brought a dozen bagels back for the house...
I marvelled at how the only foolish person who had
panicked over the delay was...
ME.
Now THAT's some progress!

Back to my KNITTING!

Whew! My hand is finally *all better*
and I knit for a good part of the early morning hours without any
pain whatsoever....
somewhere along the way I realized it had been
way too long since I'd really exhaled
all the way
and let my brain
RELAX.
Which led to some COZY daydreaming
about THIS!
Oh it's SO good to be
back to my dreamy, creative, wonderful knitting!
sigh.
Today is the day to get
Bagels at Bruegger's with the Boybird....

I got the JOB!

I'll be starting on June 12th,
which will give me a chance to wrap up all of my current
Knitting Classes.
I'll still be doing the online store,
which I hope will give me a nice Balance.

I don't think it has quite sunk in,
yet.

The PeeWee, he's getting into the FARM idea!

Another GREEN Weekend!

We went to see Over the Hedge...
daughter bird LOVED it, and I have to admit,
twas Very Well Done!
Lots of long walks with the Poodles,
especially to photograph THESE

which never cease to amaze me...
and THIS

sigh.

Still no knitting,
just a teensy bit of guitar playing,
a few more days and I think I'll be
ALL better.

This afternoon I'll go back to the hospital to see
if I passed my TB test
(phase one)
so I can check one more thing off
of the Interview List.

The daughter bird got her report card in the mail
and is OFFICIALLY a Junior
with a Very Nice GPA.
She made the Honor roll AND
is an Academic All American Cross Country Team member!
I'm SO Proud!
