Sandy says to take a moment to smell the flowers!
Some sort of mishap occurred when they were paving our street...the phones stopped working and dsl went down..so I've been disconnected since the last post. If I owe you email or a phone call, I'll be right with you! I had no idea how dependent I was on those phone lines...sheesh. Of course the UP side of not having the computer or a phone or a battery charger for the cell phone is that the puppy princess and I have had a marvellous time to bond and establish a routine. She has been helping me work on the Broadripple sock and teaching me to walk on a leash. We had our well puppy check up...she weighs a whopping 3.5 pounds and is perfectly healthy and adorable in every way. I think if when I went to MY doctor I was allowed to nibble M&M's before she listened to my heart or looked in my ears, I'd be a whole lot more interested in going for my regular checkups! Praising the weight gained since the last visit only seems to happen at the vet's office. sigh.
This has been a tough weekend for me. I always miss my Daddy the most during the Indy 500, and of course everywhere I walk I am startled to realize that Tasha is no longer with me. It reminds me of my first week at sleepaway Girl Scout camp....sitting around the campfire eating toasted marshmallows and singing the round "Make new friends, but keep the old, One is Silver and the Other GOLD."
My deepest thanks from the bottom of my heart for the lovely wishes, cards and Flowers (see above) in memory of my dear sweet doggie.
Hope your Memorial Day is safe and blessed.
She is adorable. Glad everything checked out okay at the vet. 3.5lbs...I can't believe it.
Take care.

I'm already in love with sweet Sandy. She couldn't be more adorable. Tell me she has skunky puppy breath and I will just die!
Glad you're back online. I was having withdrawals, especially after most of the week away from a computer. xoxoxoxox

I was starting to worry about where you were! Sandy looks like she has had a bath--so cute!
The sock is looking great.
Glad you're back :)

Ohh, she looks more like a sheep than in the first photo - too, too cute! What a nice quiet weekend you've had. Hope your weather was nicer than ours.

Bad vet. No chocolate for dogs. Especially for little dogs! .5 pounds milk chocolate is toxic to a ten pound dog, at 1/3 that, um devide both by three. (Yes, yes, I'm doing it!) .16 of a pound would be toxic to a 3+ pound dog. Which would be 2.56 ounces. Not very much.
Quoting from a previous googling below:
• White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.
• Milk chocolate: 1 ounce per pound of body weight. Approximately one pound of milk chocolate is poisonous to a 20-pound dog; one-half pound for a 10-pound dog. The average chocolate bar contains 2 to 3 ounces of milk chocolate. It would take 2-3 candy bars to poison a 10 pound dog. Semi-sweet chocolate has a similar toxic level.
• Sweet cocoa: 0.3 ounces per pound of body weight. One-third of a pound of sweet cocoa is toxic to a 20-pound dog; 1/6 pound for a 10-pound dog.
• Baking chocolate: 0.1 ounce per pound body weight. Two one-ounce squares of bakers' chocolate is toxic to a 20-pound dog; one ounce for a 10-pound dog.

Aside from that, I'm glad you're back. I've missed my daily dose of Danger Girl and family. :-)

Ooohhh! Your new puppy is beautiful! What joy she must bring with that sweet little face!
You're right about having more time when the phone and computer lines are down---and they were meant to be time *savers*, not time *takers*. Ironic, isn't it?
Enjoy your day, dear girl! xxoo
